On Tuesday evening, J Brand, unveiled its first ever ready-to- wear collection at a NYFW presentation that was exclusively attended by the who’s who of the fashion world. This was a monumental event for the denim brand as for the first time J Brand can now compete on an even playing field with some of fashions biggest names.
Famous for its skinny jeans and adored by celebrities including Rihanna, Kim Kardashian and the Duchess of Cambridge, the popular American brand showed a selection of biker jackets, satin blazers, boyfriend jeans, and structured tee’s at NYFW. CEO Jeff Rudes describes the new J Brand collection as ‘easy’ and ‘effortless’ as ‘ you can wear it without having to try too hard’.
The J Brand A/W13 ready-to-wear collection follows a very similar style mantra as their previous denim collections; garments are classic, sharp and edgy. As the spotlight at J Brand shifts from the derriere to the torso, it is refreshing to finally understand the full J Brand aesthetic vision. Trousers remain strong, in all their leather, skinny and super-wide-legged glory, whilst silk blouses, structured jackets and winter wools, put on a brave face, as they are introduced to a NYFW audience for the first time.
